Dr. Douglas Doohan

Dr. Doohan is an Emeritus Professor and former State Specialist in the Department of Horticulture & Crop Science at The Ohio State University where he worked early on with the Spruce team as an active consultant. With over 40 years of research assessing the impact of herbicides on fruits and vegetables, Dr. Doohan advises farmers, leads extension programs, and teaches weed management and food safety practices.

Dr. Doohan's findings on the impact of herbicide spray drift have been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he travels nationwide to speak on weed control and the risks and benefits associated with herbicide use. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from North Carolina State University, and holds a B.S. in Agriculture (Honors) from the University of Guelph. In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Doohan cherishes his role as a grandparent, often sharing his passion for horticulture with the next generation.
